KAPANDRITI | ATTICA

Oenotria Land – Domaine Costa Lazaridi

Located in North Attica, which is half an hour from the centre of Athens, Oenotria Land museum honours the vine and all its deriving products.

Since the ‘70s, Costas Lazaridis strongly believed that his home terroir could produce high-quality wine and that Drama can become a wine capital. He began his journey in the world of wine in 1979; and from his love for good wine and his interest about vine history, he began collecting tools of vinification and vintage wine accessories from all around the world.

Oenotria Land was conceived out of his passion for the vine and the love for the mystical gathering between man and wine, friendship and companionship, collaboration and good customer relationship. Inspired by Oenotros and his journey to Sicily, Costas Lazaridis “moved” to Attica to plant a new vineyard with varieties that honor the terroir such as Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Agiorgitiko. He also brought his rich tool, machinery and accessory collection to create the 1500 m2 Costa Lazaridi Wine Museum and thus share his passion with as many more people as possible in a very central location within Greece.

Cabernet Sauvignon 90%,
Agiorgitiko 10%

Dense, deep red.

Agiorgitiko softens the intensity of the Cabernet Sauvignon but leaves intact its basic characteristics as they are expressed through the influence of the Attica terroir. Concentrated, multilayered presence, dominated by the aromas of black fruit, vanilla, toasted bread, chocolate and spices. Fleshy, well structured with firm but elegant tannins and abundant ripe fruit. Warm and generous, it retains an enviable balance completed by the long, spice finish.

Dark red, almost impenetrable.

A few years ago, FnL guide called it “a milestone in modern Greek winemaking” and we believe it is still so, thanks to its unique personality. Complex bouquet resulting by both the variety and the barrel. Sour cherry jam, prune, fig, black pepper, bitter chocolate meet the hints of vanilla, cedar and leather. Soft and warm at first, rich and savory, with well-integrated tannins, does not lose its elegance thanks to its acidity. Ripe fruits and spices make their presence constantly noticeable until the very long and persistent finish.
