Barafakas Winery

The Barafakas family has been involved
in viticulture for over a century.

In 2002, Christos Barafakas and his wife created the titular family winery in one of the largest PDO wine-growing areas of Greece, Nemea. In 2004, the first bottling takes place at the winery with a limited number of bottles and with the main variety being Agiorgitiko. Within twenty years the winery has managed to develop and grow, gaining more and more wine friends. Today the winery produces 12 wine labels and around 300,000 bottles per year. The wine production comes from the privately owned vineyards of the Winery, an area of 180 acres, as well as from collaborating winegrowers. In the next three years, the Barafakas Winery will move to the next phase of its evolutionary path, as it is going to be transferred to new facilities, surrounded by vineyards, with a total area of 70 acres.

Barafakas Winery opens its doors to the wine-loving public daily 9:00-17:00. The suitably trained staff of the winery undertakes the tour of the visitors to the production and bottling areas as well as the cellar. Afterwards, visitors have the option of a tasting, which will introduce them to the magical world of wine but also to the overall philosophy of the Barafakas Winery. Finally, any visitor who wishes can purchase the wines of their choice from the wine-shop winery. You can visit the winery individually or in small groups of people by booking your appointment. If you are traveling by campervan and wish to stay in the area, the winery provides a safe place to stay overnight.

Three Witches Barafakas Winery
Three Witches

Rose Wine, Semi Sweet, Semi sparkling
Agiorgitiko, Syrah, Moschofilero

Bright pink color with violet highlights. Fine but also generous, alluring aromas of red fruits, like strawberry and Cornelian cherry, tie harmoniously with notes of white flowers. Exuberant and full in the mouth with balanced acidity and dynamic presence of bubbles. The above elements work synergistically offering a generous and creamy mouth with harmonious sweetness and fruity aromatic aftertaste.

Apocalypsis

PDO NEMEA
Dry red Wine
Agiorgitiko, 12 months aged

Dense red color. Aromatic concentration with multiple alternations of notes of cherry, pomegranate, white pepper and forest fruits. With volume and oiliness, it impresses from the first moment. Sweet and velvet tannins and very good duration in the mouth. Roll out successively with purity both its fruity substance and the spicy with notes of cassis tart, sour cherry stone, black pepper and sage. Long and lasting aromatic return.
